ESA Literature is the Lit department at Essex Street Academy, located on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.  We’ve created this blog to help us organize the teaching materials we’ve developed and to share and discuss our ideas.  If any of this helps any of you out there, fantastic.  And if you have anything you’d like to share with us, we’d love to see it!

Thanks for your help with dialectic journals! I couldn’t find my own, old format, and I’m putting together an assignment for the closing weeks of 20th Cent. lit for my seniors–they choose from Secret Life of Bees, Peace Like a River, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, or Someday This Pain Will be Useful to You–these journals will constitute their major writing assignment. Great website–thanks again.
